Just got a 2000 Corvette base , automatic
Car cranks and after 5 seconds it shuts off. I can disconnect the negative battery cable and reconnect and it will crank and stay cranked until I shut it off. Once I shut it off and try to recrank it cranks for 5 seconds and shuts off. The previous owners installed a LMC5 bypass and I’m beginning to think it’s not installed properly.
The LMC5 is not at fault here I believe, the having to disconnect the negative battery cable which allows the car to stay running is indicating that the BCM is at fault. Many corvette owners have experienced this same problem and have had to replace the BCM.
Are there no other steps to get this fixed permanently? I read something about wiring in a matching resister so it doesnt even look at the key? Is it worth looking at replacing the key? I did all the steps (havent cut the brown loop yet) and still get this about 1 out of 3 starts, second time it almost always clears. Its more annoying and embarrassing than anything.

Yes if you have the change the vehicle speed fuel cut under column lock which is under General, Vats, Column lock, VSS fuel cut off. Change it from 2mph to 200.
