Default LMC5 Instructions and brown wire mod

Hi,

Does anyone have the complete instructions for the LMC5 module? I bought a used 04 and it's already been installed but I still get the "Pull key wait 10 seconds" and fuel cutoff so I was going to do the brown wire mod. However it apperas a green wire has already been pulled and capped so I'm pretty confused where the brown wire should go.

Found a dropbox link with the full instructions, going to read them to see if they help.

I'm pretty certain that the brown wire would go into the 3rd hole on the left in the top pic where there's currently not a wire. Not sure why there's not currently a dark green wire though?

Yes, that is indeed where it goes.

Thanks. Any idea if I should be concerned that there was no wire there?

Best I can tell from the pics is that the dark green wire was indeed removed and capped but brown wire was not inserted.

Perhaps the person attempted this and forgot the brown wire part?

At any rate, I would start at that point in the process and continue with procedure as outlined in Compliance instructions. Insert brown wire in third hole, snip brown loop, then cap snipped ends.

So far so good. Initial results are looking promising.

Mind if i ask im having the same lmc5 problems? I seen the brown loop wire to cut if needed but dont recall seeing the additional brown capped wire thats supposed to be installed in the harness connector. The instructions dont give you the exact place to put the brown wire like the orange, green and purple wires which have photos for installation showing the exact terminal to install them in the harness. It says install it diagonally across the lmc5 green wire location. So im guessing the brown wire is on the bottom side and the next terminal connector just from under the green lmc5 wire. Ill have to take a look at it tomorrow. The brown wire i guess is the 3rd terminal inside just diagonal from the green wire location from what i can see. From your lmc5 module pics it looks like there is a brown wire that can be installed just under and next to the green wire i didnt see when installing my lmc5 but i did cut the loop.

The first is a pic of the orange wire very first one on the harness connector for lmc5. The second one is the purple wire and correct terminal. The last is the green wire and location.

In my case for whatever reason there was no wire in the 3rd spot diagonal from where the green wire from the LMC5 was inserted, there's nothing there at all which you can see in the top pic I posted. I put my brown wire from the LMC5 into that hole, then cut the looped brown wire. You can barely see the green wire from the LMC5 going into the second spot on the right in the top pic.

It looks like you already have this sorted out , but if you read the section "Optional LMC5 Modification Procedure", that is just before Installation Step 1, I think you will find the information you were looking for. I don't know why they didn't include that as the last step of the installation for those that needed to do the brown wire mod to resolve the problem.

I do the brown wire mod on all the lcm5's I install. I've probably done 25 or more with no issues.

I did this and still get the pull key wait ten seconds. I just installed it 5 months ago but it does the "pull key wait 10 seconds" or "steering column lock" with the fuel cut. I have to wait 10 minutes atleast and the car start performing normal. I installed the orange and purple wire replacements on the lower plug 1st and 3rd terminal. The green 2nd wire on the top and the brown wire in place of the 3rd green wire diagonal on the bottom. This appears to be correct from the instructions but still have the same issue as you. Can anyone confirm the is correct per instructions i thought maybe i didnt install the brown wire but did it the first time and had cut the loop after and still having this issue. The brown wire replaces the other green wire according to instructions. I just checked and they are in the correct terminals as the instructions or lcm5 module shows.
