I seen somewhere in another thread someone told me the c6 tunnel plate is 1/8" thick and is a direct fit for a c5? Is it made of aluminum? I need to get one for my c5 as it currently doesn't have one. I was just going to get the c5 shield goes for about 25$ from mark a vettenutes some on ebay i seen is a thin sheetmetal that will rust. Is there any structure support with the c6 tunnel plate or is it simply as flimsy sheet metal 1/8" similar to the c5. I was originally thinking of getting one of the 290$ 1/4" 3/8" thick tunnel plates as i read somewhere they are just as good as subframe connectors around corners. How much is the going price for the c6 tunnel plates and are all the same 2005-2013 a direct fit for c5 corvettes? There isn't much heat from the exhaust on my end but i see it bothers some people. There is this 1/4" thick c5 tunnel plate on ebay has anyone tried it? Its about half the price of the other 290$-330$ aftermarket tunnel plates. This looks like the perfect plate for me at half the price. How much does a used c6 tunnel plate go for? Ill have to install it when im doing the exhaust mufflers or get time. Great probably will get the ebay tunnel plate if i cant afford the elite engineering. Ever since ive had my car its never had the tunnel plate. I found a c5 plate locally for 30$ just to have it does appear to have a ceramic coating or grey type of material on the exhaust side. I got a deal on it with the air bag, heat shield, used sunvisors and grey floor mats. The air bag was 70$ 99-04 are the same black according to mark at vette nuts wanted 95$ and 25$ for heatshield. so luckily i found this this evening. They arent the same as my jetblack interior but will have to do miami corvette wants 190$ shipped for the trunk compartment panels and vettenuts wants 225$. If i ever get that far modding the vehicle ill upgrade heatshields.
I seen someone say you could stack 2 c6 tunnel plates making them 1/4" thick which would be the costly way to go for structure support as well as shielding.

sorry for resurrecting this thread but has anyone tried the doubleup tunnel plates??

Yes that is what I did, I bought two factory C6 plates off eBay and double stacked them (zoom in at the end of the plate) and installed the DEI insulation kits as well.
Nothing in between, but I did clean them real good with brake clean. I had thought about applying some aerospace high temperature rated structural adhesive for aluminum between the two plates, but now the **** retentive engineer in me is starting to show though again.
I have a stock C5 plate I was going to throw in the scrap bin at work. I'm in the state of ILL, County Crook, NW burb of Chicago. If you were local, stop by for a beer and the plate in my garage...

Did you need to swap for longer bolts and if so, do you have a size/source? TY in advance I realize this is an older thread.
Oddly enough, I was able to reuse the stock factory C5 fasteners. I just double checked my records to make sure I did not need to buy new longer fasteners.
Per these instructions from Elite Engineering, on page #9 it states that the (36) stock factory 8mm head 6x1.25mm threaded fasteners are long enough for use with even the 3/8" thick aftermarket tunnel plates.
