ported and the “half shaft” mod done which removes the big speedbump the air has to jump over the throttle blade.
Josh: Once the original LS1 T/B is removed, ported/polished, and re-installed......is there a need for re-programming the computer or is it a plug and play re-install? Thanks and fully appreciate your advice!

The short answer is no it doesn’t need to be programmed, the computer will adapt the fuel map over time for any mods you make with certain boundaries.
You will notice even without tuning an improvement in throttle response and a feeling there’s a little more horsepower on tap. It’s said a ported throttle body averages 7hp at the wheels.
Since an engine is basically a big air pump anything you do that increases air in and out will result in more power. If you have headers and a hotter camshaft you will get a bigger gain from a ported throttle body as it all works together.
A computer tune even with no other mods is highly recommended. A good tuner can really wake up even a bone stock LS1.
I have to ask you for more info ref the Mirror Cam system. I purchased one, only a different brand and I assume the hardwire hook up is the same as your's.
It calls for me to connect 3 wires into the fuse box, one to the Batt post,, one to the ACC post and one to ground. The fuse box is under the dash, passenger
side.
My question, do you know how to pull the fuse box out away from its mount so I can access the battery post? Is there an easy release or didn't you have to do that?
Thanks!
Hello - Does any of you know why the Motion Works Interchangeable Icon 102mm throttle body for the LS engine is not street legal? I don't understand what determines whether any throttle body is either legal or illegal on the street.
I'm looking to upgrade the air intake with the Callaway Honker and also upgrade the throttle body. Any words of advice or recommendations would be a lot of help.
Thank you much!
What determines if a throttle body is legal or illegal are a group of pencil pushers that can't find legitimate work anywhere else, due to a lack of a skill set. Some people call them the EPA. How a valve, that controls nothing but airflow, can increase or decrease emissions is beyond me. Sorry I cant offer any more insight than that....
LOL, Thank you for venting your thoughts on that. That was pretty much my point of view also, but I really did want to know the real issue as far as the mechanics of it goes, and I did get a couple of good clear answers from forum response's.
Hello Again - A while ago you posted photos of your mirror camera system and I finally obtained one for my C5. I also have the hard wire wires but am having trouble making a connection to get the system running.
I have 3-wires to connect to the fuse box per the makers instructions. One goes to ground, one goes to an always on fuse and the other goes to a fuse that only is on when the ignition is turned on.
I connected the ground wire ok, I connected one lead to an always on fuse (cig lighter) but I can't locate a fuse that become live only when the ignition is turned on.
If you hardwired yours, do you remember how you connected the leads to yours? My other option is to use the cig lighter to plug in the power lead but then i have to plug and unplug it all the time and I'm left with the cable hanging loose.
If you can help i appreciate it. thank you, John

it's been a while since i wired mine up so i don't currently recall which locations i tapped.
if your always-on power point was the cigarette lighter by the radio location, the climate control should also be right there. the climate control would be a switched point but i don't have the pinout to know which wire to tap.
if your always-on power point was the cigarette lighter in the center console, the traction control plug should be switched so you can tap there too.
a little digging should uncover the switched wire at the climate control or traction control location(s)...hope this helps
i begg to differ. mods like cai or tb porting do nothing at all to power output. they are being promoted ad nauseum by people feeding on ususpecting enthusiasts. go and measure air presure in the intake at full power. you will see a loss of 2-3 kpa at most with a stock sytem. thats 2-3% loss in air mass. so even if you were somehow to get all of it back with some ingenious mods thats all you gain. cais mess up the maf signal more often than not on top of that (a plethora of stories online). the same for "axle-backs", nothing to gain besides noise. keep in mind the c5 has an excellent cold air system from the factory. if you must do something, cut some holes into the air box and enjoy the new sound. at least its free.
(i have been doing this kind of stuff long enough.)

throttle body upgrades are generally a waste of money compared to the increase in horsepower. bang for the buck is terrible. Better off investing in long tubes, cam, heads, blower etc. even on the big builds (c6 z06) nick Williams TB is basically useless.
I’m sure if he wanted a 80mm off a newer one he would see a power increase although a port and polish might only get 2/3 hp compared to a 80 mm with the same work done maybe 10 .
