Default DIY engine removal/ refresh

I'm pushing the limits of DIY here, but nothing ventured nothing gained. Is there a DIY thread on removal and refresh (new bearings etc)? I was told when I had my cam done that it could use a bottom end refresh, but wasnt critical at the time. I'm considering taking the job myself at some point in the future. Just looking for a DIY thread I can look at to see w what I'm getting into. I know getting it out is fairly involved.

Why would it need a bottom end refresh? Is it knocking?

Do yourself a favor and obtain a copy of the service manual or a ALLDATA DIY subscription if you are going to overhaul your engine. If the oil pressure is still within factory specifications and you have good compression leave it alone.

When they did the cam was told the bearings are showing a bit of wear and they recommended new bearings and a bottom end refresh. I do suspect that he may have been posting for more work, although the shop is not hurting for work and due ground up restore on multiple Vettes regularly.

oil pressure is fine, around 40 at idle. 60 or so on a hard pull. No abnormal noises. Let's call this future planning.

I do have the service manual. But let's be honest, there is the service manual procedure and then there is reality. I would certainly use the manual, but I won't have access to a lift and all the fancy tools they will. I have a quick lift and the usual tools.
