Default Help, belt problems

I’m trying to get my belt off to change power steering pump and it just won’t come off it’s too tight. I watched some YouTube videos and it looks like other people get much more slack out of their belts. Should I just cut it and buy a new one?

With that much slack, you should be able to more easily slip the belt off of the water pump bell.

I have found removing and installing the belt on that water pump bell to be the quickest and easiest way to take it off and put it back on.

Thanks Craig, I bought another belt just in case and to see if they’re the same size.

It's really hard to take the belt off of the tensioner do it either on the idler or the water pump as was previously mentioned. I have seen anywhere from 79.5" to 80.5" listed as replacement size belts.

Slide the belt on/off the water pump or idler pulley.

Ask your local Corvette Club where to get repairs on the C5 and take it to them. It will only cost your money but the fix is done.
