the only gear I find difficult is 2nd. It's not terrible but definitely need to throw it down intentionally all the way back. I'm going to try re-aligning at some point and of course change fluids. Otherwise I find the stock setup to shift pretty nicely, although a bit long in the tooth.
I know the feeling. I'm tired of it. I won't be any good at the strip if I am nervous about shifting gears. 2nd gear was always my favorite. BAMM!
I really appreciate everyone's insight and time in helping me out. Thank you! I think I'm gonna go with TMODcustoms. He has me sold, plus, and he is a sponsor. 'Gonna PM him.
You will NEVER regret going with TMODcustoms for the Lower Box rebuild and bushing. He also sells a very good shifter, which is also in my car. Great guy to work with and superior product.
Your box is almost certainly shot. Send it to me and I'll fix it up, it will be a night and day difference. Then you can play with adding spacers to the detent, you probably won't even want to. After I do the box you also want to replace the factory shifter bushing with mine, it will be, like I said, night and day.
If you are sending your box to TMOD, you must first remove the rubber spacer on the bottom of the box and hang onto it. It is usually siliconed on, so use a scraper or screwdriver to remove it. You can resilicone it on when you get the box back.
What he said.... MGW shifter made a world of difference in the feel of the trans....Anti-venom made it less effort.
I went with a MGW on my 2007 Z. Great upgrade, then I added one washer and made the mod much better. Your mileage may vary but this worked best for me.

Thanks! I would have missed that, for sure. I hope he is still in business!

I know the road you are on and if you end up with anti-venom, Tmod box, and a good top end shifter you will be psyched.
PS - having briefly had a B&M, I cannot say I would ever use theirs again. MGW all the way. Except that if you're having the box done you will want to call MGW before ordering so you don't also pay for their box.

Thanks bro. I feel great about this mod! I took the C out today, and I was minding 2nd gear. I really tried to nail the sweetspot, but 2nd gear bit me twice. I'm tired of it. So much so, that I am going park her until I drop in the TModbox and 20% shifter. I'd hate to screw up my tranny because of the POS B&M.
I ran 2 different B&M shifters in my car and didn't have any issues, but yours could be shot. The second version was also paired with a TMOD lower box. I moved on to an MGW, which is my favorite so far, but not significantly superior to the B&M/TMOD setup I had before it. One washer anti-venom as well that made a noticeable difference. Tried two, but didn't like it. I will say shifting feels more "reliable" with the MGW than the previous set up. I don't worry about missing gears anymore. The B&M felt much more "direct" and had more of a bolt action feel, but it also required more effort.

Thank you for sharing! I am getting antsy; I hope Tom gets back to me soon! I keep telling myself "it must be me." But at this point, I know it's not.
Thank you! But I decided to have his goods mailed to me and then I will send the original back to him for credit. So I am going the "core route." I don't have a garage, and my ex-roommate stole all my tools, therefore I am taking it to the shop.
Somebody earlier mentioned Amsoil in the tranny. I am a believer!
This made a huge difference for me. Much smoother shifting in all gears.
Highly recommended.
SUCCESS! TMODS to the rescue. The shifter and box went in this morning. Test drive resulted on a smoother shifting quick-shift-stick! No hunting gears. No nervousness about 2nd gear. Not nearly as notchy. It was a little stiff on the initial run, and getting into reverse was tough, but as it broke in, reverse was a cinch and I was once again banging the gears. No grinding. No miss-shifts. Tom at TMODS, dude, you can take this industry by storm (if you want to).
The relief was to know it wasn't the human. It was the shifter! I thought I was "losing it." But no, having the right equipment speaks volumes. WOO HOO!
