I currently have the Corsa Indys on my 99....I had them on my 2000 and just didnt sound like it had enough muscle to it due to the xpipe I put on it.......now on my 99 it sounds great...like a muscle car should...I want to get the FLP header package but am concerned tha the X pipe that it comes with will quiet it/smooth it out too much.......anyone in NJ with that setup that I can listen to? or get an opinion from?
Also will it reduce my low end torque like my exhaust did?
Hi Marc,
I'm not in Jersey, but have that set up. It sounds absolutely awesome.
I have the FLPs with the Hi-Flo cats and the car sounds like a vette should!
I recently had a buddy drive my car so that I could "really" hear it, and let me tell you...I'm still smilin'!
The headers will wake up your Indies and your exhaust note at idle will also sound a lot better.
Hey, if it's not loud enough for you, you can always swap out the Hi-Flo cats for the off-road pipes that are included with the FLPs.
If you put on the off road pipes, you'll need to order the '02 sims.
Good luck and get em...you will not regret it.
And by the way, there is also a nice pick up in your "giddy-up" .
They sound so awsome, I don't even consider looking for ant thing else.
Most guy's would be very happy with open exahust. For me they are about as loud as you would want to be, and be able to keep our wives in the car with us.
But anyways I have had everything you been looking for so look below and see results:
Stock Exaust
- Just plain Sucks (Kinda Sounds Foreign)
Stock Exaust w/ Corsa Indy's
- Sounded Better, definitely louder, but it had a speed boat kinda sound
Stock Exhaust w/ Corsa Indy's and Breathless X-Pipe
- Mellowed out the Boat sound sounded pretty Decent, wanted more of a
Muscle car sound.
Tpis Headers, Stock Cats, Breathless X-Pipe, Corsa Indy's -
- Made it sound a little louder, a lil more muscle car like, rpms were
a lil quicker, Better at idle, but I had many Problems with the TPIS
System Leaking in connection to the "No Weld/Clamp H-Pipe Collector"
Sold the TPIS Headers, Went with FLP's Complete Header System, Hi-Flow Cats, FLP's X-Pipe & Corsa Indy's
- Made and Excellent sounding car, Perfectly sounding at idle, cruising, and
definately muscle car sounding when your getting on it, no leaks, no
welds, Smooth transfer on RPMS, and SOTP Difference is a lil Better!!!!
I'm definitely happy I made the change, just wished I opted to do this first
and save some money on the long run  and like someone said if
you need to go louder, or track do the switch out of the hi-flows to "race
pipes" which is all included in the set up.
So give Mitch a call at FLP and you wont regret it
P.S. Im working on trying to get a sound file so you could here it but its going to have to wait til this weekend if I have time to do it, I'll Keep you updated if I can get it done.
Hey thanks alot for the info...a sound file would be soooooo great......I have been swapping emails with Mitch at FLP..seems like a nice guy answering my questions.......This seems like the set up for me.....I would love to hear it first though!
Once I put the FLPs in....do I need kool sox for wires...or high temp resistant wires? or are the headers coated enough to leave stock wires as is?
I am EXTREMELY interested in hearing how this works out for you. This is exactly what I want to do when funds become available. I currently have the Corsa Indy's and Corsa X-Pipe, and want to add the FLP's.

I would suggest the sox, as well as new wires with angled boots when you do the install. I have the FLP's with the stock wires, and while they haven't caused any problems yet (have about 3k mi on since the header install), but you can see the rubber boot (outside of the metal shield) is actually touching one of the header tubes. (I think this is the only one). It shows no sign of burning yet, but I don't like it and don't trust it.
I'm soon to be upgrading wires and heat sox as cheap insurance.
Hi Chris.....I can swing by and shoot the breeze with ya.....do you have Ls6 intakes in stock? shoot me an email with your number and I will call for directions!
