The old style PVC system sucks. It allows oil to migrate from the crank case and get into your intake manifold. The oil will cause knock and you will loose timing and performance! Keep the oil out and your car runs better. The best fix is an 02 PVC system out of an LS6. There are other PVC mods and I just purchased the inline air / oil seperator from wall mart. We will see how that works  Anyway that you can come up with to keep the oil out of your combustion chamber it good.
Its PCV not PVC having said that unless you have a Z06 you have the same PCV system as all non Z06 engines. I have seen posts from some Z06 guys who claim they also are getting oil into their intakes. my opinion do the air filter PCV mod costs $20 & is worth it.

Finally...thank you. This has been driving me crazy. PVC is polyvinyl chloride!
Thanks for the reply. It sounds like I don't have to worry about this problem with and '02 (or do I).........
Just curious, I noticed you have being rolling your eyes on this thread. So are you rolling your eyes cause you think it is stupid to do PCV (PVC in your case) mod or are you borned cross eyed? :jester :jester :jester
I did the PCV Mod today. I have a question, does the arrow on the filter go towards the intake manifold or air intake? I am guessing intake manifold but want to make sure. On the website it just says "intake". Need clarification please.

Here is where I went but could not find the Campbell Hausfield part he talks about so I used the Amflo "Mini-air filter" 1/4" Port & Poly Bowl #968283 B and the Amflo "Hose barb with clamp" 3/8 ID, 1/4 NPt #969713 A
Hope this helps, found them at Lowes in the tool dept. by the air compressors.

Is it not the direction of the flow, in which case it should point toward the air intake.
OK, now I have two different opinions on this. I guess that having it point towards the air intake would make sense too. Since it is supposed to keep oil out of the air intake or MAF. Now I'm really confused.
