Might I suggest doing a search on "Column Lock" or looking at the Stcky at the very top the C5 Tech page.

Techcristian,

What you are experiencing is a pretty common thing with our cars and a know "defect." The code you are getting is part of the anti theft system. Unfortunately the system is wrought with problems and has the potential to leave you stranded. Your anti theft system is designed to lock your steering wheel and at times not allow you to drive over 2mph. Often is is caused by an older battery with low voltage.

Fortunately there is a fool proof fix for about $50 and 30 minutes of install time. It is called the LCM5 and is a module installed in the fuse box area of your passenger side floor board.

Here is a video:

Order one here: http://www.complianceparts.com/

Install it yourself or have a pro do it in 20 minutes. Either way you will fix your problem permanently.

Better than the LMC5 is the "old school" CLB. You never have to "call Richard" or do the brown wire mod. Just works the first time all the time.

I'm glad to see it doesn't affect a 2002 with an A4.

If only this were correct. Many documented occurrences over the years with your trusted CLB NOT working in some cars. Here is just one string with supporting information.

The LMC5 is the only tried and true fix as long as the brown wire mod step is executed.
