Dear friends,
Ihave a bit of a dilemma
I have a 2000 Corvette with an automatic. I am having difficulty finding the correct alternator for this car .I have put 2 different alternators on the car from Oreilly's and still get a charging system error. Otherwise the car drives as it should It currently has 83k miles on the car and the battery is a few years old and tests good and has no trouble starting the car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Jeffrey
I appreciate the quick reply and the info...
But what i really need is the alternator brand model and number for my specific car which is a 2000 Automatic that will not throw any codes or error messages
I am used to going to a parts store, giving them the year and model of the car, then getting the correct part and 20 minutes later the part is installed and I'm back in business. This is the first time I have had this much trouble buying the right part for something as simple as an alternator on a relatively common American car If this was a 250 series Ferrari from the 1960's i could understand, but not a mass produced American car
Again any help on the specific Alternator would be greatly appreciated.
I've used a 220amp Denso hairpin alternator out of a 2021 Escalade on my 2000 manual. I wanted the extra amps so I figured a way to do it. You'd need to make an adapter for the mounting bolt because the spacing between to two are different. Then I swap the voltage regulator out of an alternator for a 2000 Cadillac Seville and everything works, no codes and more amps.

Sounds like you know your stuff! You should make and sell kits like these for guys who need more juice
I'd consider it if I had a source to get Denso branded voltage regulators, all I could find are aftermarket that I just don't trust 100%. I was fortunate enough to have a very very low milage Seville alternator from back when I had that car.
