I keeping seeing the ads: Vararam will add 40+hp. So and so gained 4 tenths and 5mph, while someone else ran 13.5 stock and 13 flat with the Vararam.
Okay, soulds impressive,but.......................... ........................................ ...........
what actual gains are you guys getting with it? What improvements at the track could I expect from it (once I find my C5 that is)?
Its claims seem pretty bold. If they're true, it sounds like a good investment.
What's the story?
Oh boy, here we go again. :lurk: you wil get guys who say they gained all this time and MPH when they went to the track, but never took any variables in to play. eg" weather, track prep, engine temp etc. etc. You will get a couple or three that have some good data to back their claims it works great. You will get a couple of guys who have data supporting their claim their cars slowed down (compared to other aftermarket intakes). You will get guys that think it looks cool and well built, you will get guys who think it's quality and hype leave a lot to be desired. And you will get guys who like to jump on one bandwagon or the other. Bottom line is, if you don't do a lot of serious racing you won't notice a differance one way or another between it and the other major brands. :smash: :lurk:
Are you talking racing any car, or racing my Corvette?
I ran on a 9.20 altutude corrected index in Super Comp. car would run 8.70's.
Are you talking Vette? Taking my Z06 and trashing on it at a track with an altitude of over 3500 feet, doesn't really excite me. I know running high 11's is a big thrill for you, but it really does nothing for me. I was running 11's at a drag strip when I was 17.
exactly what I thought racer, you have no experience in the z06 at a track with different air intakes
thank you for finally answering the question
So, you have to have gone to the track and tried all the intakes made to qualify to answer VR questions? I guess you don't qualify either Blue. I guess RG can't answer any VR questions either. WOW, I don't think this is going the way you had hoped. Sorry, I disagree, I have followed all the VR threads, I have heard all the good and all the bad. I am passing on what has been posted.
Hey Blu, instead of attacking me on these boards, like you always do, let's take it to IM or e-mail. ROB K wants to know about the VR. Rob, I am sure you will be very happy with it, it will give your car a nice kick in the pants over the stock intake. There will be guys posting some numbers to back up it's claims, you can be sure. RG, where are you, potential customer here.!!
You'll find guy trying to defend their purchases on similar items all the time here on C/F on items like headers, intakes, exhausts...some guys take it overboard because that's the type of personality they have and they think they are 'fighting the good fight' of which there really isn't any. But, some have nothing better to do I guess. I am not saying applies to this thread, but, it does go on.
The VR works very, very, well..check some of the posts about it in the search feature. HP gain is equivalent to MPH increase...a faster and quicker car is what your after.
We also sell the Vortex(cold air kit) and the Blackwing (non cold air)..both are very good but don't offer quite the performance gain that the VR does...if every tenth of a second and every mph matter(to some it does, to others it doesn't) then try the VR with a money back guarantee.
Suffice it to say that there are different strokes for different folks.:) Enjoy making our own mind up based on what you want to do and accomplish.:)

I do agree with most of what you say here, being as I am a regular at NHRA events and work at an NHRA track, but in at least one case ( which is on the Vararam website ) I can verify the findings. Using the same car, same track, same lane and TAG Weatherstation data for the car in question, it did in fact get .4 on the ET. It then proceeded to duplicate the ET's at different tracks (using the TAG data) as well. I myself have tried a couple of systems with no good results, but have yet to try the Vararam as the one Patrick was sending never arrived last year for testing. I would really like to test it on my car, but I am still waiting, so no test here.
I did make comparisons, with DA within 100 feet on the different runs, and nearly identical 60-foot times. I picked up .15 in ET and almost 2MPH over my Halltech T-1C top breather with the VaraRam. My 60-foot times were actually a couple thousandths better on the Halltech runs, so traction was not an issue. I don't believe that it was the "ram-air" hype that everyone is having pissing matches about, but the cold air that I wasn't getting with the Halltech. I had my IAT tricked so there was no difference there. I logged the runs with Autotap, and the only difference in parameters was the LTFTs were 2% higher with the VR installed. I have 350+ runs in on my car last year, so I notice any improvement or loss in performance.
