A quick question about the pullers used for removing a harmonic balancer, please.
If you google LS1 specific pullers you get ones that look like this:
but whenever you watch a tutorial, they always have the less rigid type like one of these:
Just wondered if anyone knew of any pros/cons of the different types, please?! The second type with the extra rods looks like they'd be useful from what I've seen (And are available for less money, interestingly). As I said, just curious what people have found before. Many thanks
Auto Zone has several types to loan out as well as the installation tool, you need to buy the tool and when you're done return it for a full refund.
Thanks for the reply 🙂. Unfortunately in my case the sort of places that operate on that basis here don’t have those sort of tools (I’m in the UK).
So instead I suspect I’m needing to purchase the balancer remover, the flywheel locking tool, the install tool, the front seal puller tool… and obviously the parts that are going on the car itself, lol.

Summit sells The Best Tool for balancer torque ...no Flywheel lock needed... thus no starter removal.
Saves 2 hours or more for 21$
We used the Summit Puller as well
By the way. Look up Cradle Drop Method and Don’t Remove the Rack... just bring it down on the cradle

That sounds ideal. Do you know the part number, please? I've seen Toys4Life use SME-906008 but that is showing as out of stock for the next few months and haven't been able to find one elsewhere (And the most recent reviews suggest maybe they're not as well made as they used to be?). Closer to the budget you describe, there's also SME-906007... do you know if that'd work on an LS1, please? Edit: Their "Check the fit" guide suggests it probably doesn't. Hmm. If you know the part number ofthe one you used, that would be great, thank you
