Automatic Shifter Problem
The shifter works fine when cold, but when hot it will not go into reverse and feels disconnected. I have had the cable replaced. The car has 51,000 miles on it and has been well taken care of. With some effort back and forth it can finally be coaxed into reverse. The transmission itself performs fine. Could the shifter itself be at fault?

There is a cable adjustment on the trans end of the cable. Possibility that the lock for the adjustment is not set. Have had this happen on a friend's car. It was a bit tough to get the lock to set.
