Default Tips for Fuel Sending Unit Replacement?

I'm about to dive into replacing the fuel sending units on my 02 vert. Over the last few months I've run 6-7 bottles of Techron and 2 bottles of Seafoam through the tank and still have the gauge randomly drop to 0. So, I've ordered 2 of part no. 19421094 from Rock Auto and am just gonna replace them. Planning to run the tank as empty as possible and will have my fire extinguisher on hand, any tips/tricks/advice when performing this swap from someone who has done it before?

Are you absolutely positive the part numbers are the same for both sides ??…I’d research the passenger side part number !!

I believe so. An earlier post on here said the left one can be used for both if you swap and reuse the float arm from the left side.

Be careful when you put the new units in. It is easy to get the float hung up on the fuel sock, then you have to re-do the job after draining the tank again...

That's the entire jet pump assembly. There's a larger thread on the subject here. There appear to be two wire and three wire versions on some early models, but most everyone with a 99 - 03 (with old style fuel system) has been able to use the 19421094 sender by swapping the float arm from the old unit.

DW600RR if you run into fitment problems please post over in the other thread - there's a good bit of info there and would probably be a good candidate for a sticky.

To remove the assembly from the left tank, you must unclip the white fuel sender base from the fuel pump bracket. Then align the float rod with the side of the pump to slide the entire assembly out of the hole.

Reverse the process to reinstall.
