Hi guys. Issues with my 12 disc changer in my 04. Just spoke with Dr.Dons, who have done 2 rebuilds on my previous dash/cd players. Guy does great work. He said that due to a design flaw (?), newly reconditioned 12 disc changers must NOW BE MOUNTED HORIZONTALLY in order to function properly. This sounds like a headache as it would make the trunk slot for the player no longer usable as well as changing the stock properties of the car. So I must now mount it somewhere else in the trunk (taking up valuable space)?! Anyone have any thoughts/ideas on this? Thx! Mac.
How do i get in touch with this guy? Mine is having probkems and I'd like to get it fixed, deapite all the negative comments on: why, its old technology, come into this century...I have bluetooth...but i also have a million cds I'd like to play. Thanks

I had mine fixed by Don. It's true that the machine must be mounted horizontally but it fits perfectly within the indentation under the trunk floor. I couldn't match any of the mounting holes on the player with the holes on the brackets. I made a small box to sit the player into with bubble wrap as a base. I then used industrial duct tape on both sides running it back to the brackets.
The machine is rock solid and I've been using it for over 6 months w/o a hiccup. No skips, no jumping, nada... GOOD LUCK!

Seems like Dr. Don is the only alternative for successfully modifying these units. Previous posts state that Pioneer repair facilities want nothing to do with them due to age and lack of parts.
I'm happy with my repair although not inexpensive.
