Default Question about Y2K's

I was looking at wheels for my C4 and really like the look of the Y2K's. When i started looking around for them i noticed some places have 2000 y2k's and 2001 y2k's. Whats the difference, they appear to look the same? Oh and for those with them what tire dimensions do you run on them assuming you have 17 X 8.5 fronts and 18 X 9.5 rears. Thank you.

The 2001 rims have thicker spokes than the 2000 rims.

Default Re: Question about Y2K's (Chefskeez6)

The early (until about March 2000) Y2ks (painted) were forged, the same as the high polished wheels. After that, all the painted Y2k wheels were cast. Those wheels have thicker spokes and "ears" where the spokes meet the rim, probably for strength as they are cast and not forged. The "early" Y2ks will have "General Motors" stamped on the back, the late 2000 and 201-2003 painted wheels will have "Speedline" stamped on the back. I'm sure both wheels are very strong and safe, however, IMHO, the early 2000 forged painted wheels, besides being a lot rarer, are quite a bit more elegant than the cast version. Look at the two side-by-side once. Of course, I'm biased. ;)
