No, I don't know why these are $200 each. The Ecklers version worked for me.

I've read horror stories about Ecklers, do your research. My experience with them has been good.

Go with OEM sensors. I've tried aftermarket ones over the years when changing wheels and tires and even the tire shops could not get some of them to work. I ordered my last set from Amazon but your local dealership may also have them in stock or could order them (probably from Amazon).

The magnet method works great, but you need to drive the car around block before you try to program them in order to wake them up.

The one on my original wheels work but I put 2003 wheels on and I think they might be different!

I ordered one in September of 2019 and it's a different part number (and price)
25-108810-1 1997-2000 Corvette Low Pressure Tire Sensor 1 $129.99
25-171670-1 1997-2013 Corvette Tire Pressure Sensor Nut 1 $10.49
Dad's original chrome wheels were very pitted and I thought they looked like **** so I bought him a new set of black wheels. Don't recall exactly what he did about the TPMS. I know he was having trouble with one of them, maybe we just replaced that one, maybe I found a set from another vendor. I can tell you for sure I wouldn't spend $800, I would have gone without before that happened.

The earlier TPMS sensors are more expensive.

The later ones are cheaper & the conversion is somewhat involved but the total cost should be less than the $800 they want for just 4 of the earlier sensors.

My 2000 M6 since I had it 2 years reads 0 on all tires. The previous owner put new tires on it and didn’t know anything about the sensors, now the dumb question how do I know if they are even on the tires and if they are I read you just use a magnet to set them up. Shorty after I purchased it I had a low tire notice pop up but it was right on pressure

You can replace the batteries inside the sensors . You have to be a little creative and remove some potting and desolder/resolder.the battery If it were me, I would just replace the batteries. I believe that ALL the sensors will fit any wheel designed for the C5 sensor. Just MAKE SURE that you purchase the correct frequency sensors.

How do I tell if they even have them on the tires, aren’t they located under the stem in the tire itself?

Here is the programming process from the 2000 service manual. I THINK the tool is just a magnet but you might want to check that.
Also- OEM sensors did respond to a magnet but not every aftermarket sensor does. Read through some other threads here for alternate methods.

The metal stem is attached to the sensor. The bottom of the sensor rest on the inside of the rim.

Don't waste your time + money trying to use NOS OEM sensors. They've all been sitting on a shelf in a warehouse for the past 7-10 years while their batteries go pear-shaped.

I have new universal sensors on hand that are 100% compatible, though require a $10 TPMS trigger tool. $130 for four. PM me if interested.

There is a forum member who recently installed the new version of Schrader sensors and he reported they worked vey well. I do not recall his exact model year but it was the '97-'00 TPMS. These new Schrader sensors do not use a magnet, they use a triggering tool. I am in the process of trying to buy a set of tires from Costco for my '99. My sensors are at least 12 years old so I will replace them. Costco wants to source sensors from "Dill" and were checking to see if Dill sells them. If Costco sources them then they will be responsible to get them working.

Once I have the old ones, I will likely give the do it yourself battery replacement approach a try.

Best advice I have seen posted multiple times is to program the sensors before you mount the new tires.

I’m going to try to program mine as it’s always read 0 since purchase, just like the fuel gauge 🤣 Oh how I wish I still had my 65 396

9 bucks for a GM freq tool to sync/reset them. Magnet didn't work on my new sensors that came with my rims but this tool worked great. Just buy a 9volt battery as it doesn't come with.

There's no conversion involved in using newer sensors. You just need the right sensor and the appropriate trigger tool as not many of the sensors currently being produced can be magnetically triggered. But the tool is only $10.

Having gone down that road for another member, I wouldn't recommend trying this one. Of the 7 or 8 I worked on, only 3 could be resurrected. After 20 years the batteries had leaked and corroded the circuit boards, as well as a couple that had either physical damage, or had been fed a can of fix-a-flat which contaminated the inertia switch. I went so far as to build a jig to hold the sensor and sharpened up a screwdriver specially for this purpose. I even bought a large tray of batteries and some high quality potting compound. Turned out to be a large waste of time + money except for the programming / scanning tool I got to test the repaired sensors.

It's more complicated than just getting the correct frequency. Other variables are signal modulation (ASK or FSK), sensor ID length, and number of data PIDs (pressure, temperature, battery health).

I believe the 97-00 RFA wants 315mhz with ASK modulation, 3 bytes sensor id and 1 PID. 01-04 is the same but instead uses FSK modulation. Cars made for export use 433mhz instead of 315.

I've sold 3 or 4 sets of the universal sensors I mentioned earlier to 97-00 owners, and no-one has had any issues with them.
