Default Inconsistent oil pressure

Hello, I hope everyone is doing good today. Quick question. I was having oil pressure issues. I just replaced the oil pump. And recently replaced the oil pressure sensor. Still having the same issue. At this point is it pretty much 100 percent an electrical problem? Is it possible at all that an oil passageway could be blocked or something weird like that?
Also, has anyone ever tried to install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge that runs specifically off of pressure and not electronics?

Try another sensor. Not 100% certain, but at least 90%, that it's either the sender, or in the sender wiring. OEM senders are for poop. Get one from O'Reilly, NAPA, or ANYWHERE but the dealer!!!

The Buick equivalent is supposed to be reliable.

You can install a real oil pressure gauge right on the engine or run a line inside the car, of coursr if the oil line develops a leak you will have a mess.

Here's the Buick model, some ideas for a remote sensor setup, and some parts sources. Note that the Buick sensor has a different thread pattern than the Chevy sensor.

The thread in the engine block is 16mm x 1.5. The fitting for the block in the chart below, converts to -8 AN to connect from there on.

I pieced together my own oil pressure relocator using
this adaptor this adaptor
at the sensor end, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-2268 at the block end, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-64151518erl between, and am using the Buick sensor. I've had to replace the sensor twice because I somehow got water into it both times while cleaning the engine - my own fault of course. Now that I have it tucked in underneath the coil covers, it is protected from water from a light cleaning. if I go OCD on the cleaning, I unplug it and put it in a rubber glove to protect the sensor.

Mine did, and it was one HELLUVA mess. Thankfully under the car, NOT inside it....

I just can't see adding all those connections (failure points) to solve a sensor replacement.

I've heard that the O-Ring on the pickup tube (at the pump) can go bad. Did you change that? Also there is a aftermarket bracket that strengthens that joint.

IMO... for test purposes install a old school mechanical gauge just to verify if its the sensor (or some electrical part) or if you have a real oil pressure problem.

Over a decade on this without a failure on mulitple cars. One has had it nearly 20 years and is tracked at over 100k miles.

NAPA buick sensor. We run a 45 degree connector to the AN line off the block. Ours looks like Doug's but we get the parts from NAPA and Summit.

Could you provide more info on what you mean by "issues"? What are you seeing?

What Buick application do you ask Napa for?

Just ask them to cross reference ACDelco 213-1650, or GM 12584940
