I recently purchased my 1997 corvette, which came with 2 keys and no fobs. I've bought 2 fobs off amazon and want to program them.
I've followed the instructions on the DIC (reset, options to blank screen, until your left with the screen showing 'fob programming'. The guides say to then press the 'reset' button and the DIC then will say something along the lines of 'press lock and unlock to program fob'.... But mine doesn't do that - it doesn't get past the screen showing 'fob programming'.
Has anyone else had that issue, or a way around it?
I have 2 questions.
1. Did you buy p/n 19299230?
2. Do you know that the keyless entry system was working? Seems a bit suspicious because the car had no remotes.

Hi, I actually bought the fobs for the 2001-2004 car by accident (when I should have bought the ones for 1997-2000), but didn't want to buy the new ones if the DIC has the error in not showing the lock/unlock screen. Or does the DIC only show that screen if it senses that a correct fob is in range for programming I wonder?
I've no idea if it is working but would like to give it a go....

This seems likely. Corvette club in your area? Maybe someone local has a scan tool that will tell you if the system is functional.
If you really want to use the RKE system, the first thing you'll absolutely need is operational fobs that are matched to your model year. No way will the '01-'04 fobs work unless you change a lot of other things in the car. So buy the correct fobs, and go from there. Auto Zone and other auto parts stores have a setup that you can test any fobs. So buy the correct '97-'00 fobs, and head to O'Reilly, or wherever, to see if they're transmitting, or not. If they pass that test, and the car will not allow programming them, it's then a process of elimination. The receiver/antenna is on the drivers side, above the rear wheel, under the plastic trim. I suspect it is either not working, is the wrong part, or if that checks out, it's in the wiring or possibly the BCM. I agree that the two original fobs missing is a red flag that something is wrong in the system somewhere......
Hi, thanks for the detailed answer. I'm actually in UK so have less options than you, but I think I'll start with buying one correct fob then starting working through the process of elimination as you suggest. I've got a few other 'fires' to put out will get round to figuring this fob issue down the line 👍
