Has anyone ceramic coated their mufflers/axle back exhaust and can comment on their experience? I know the benefits of coating heads, but curious about the muffler coating.
Hmmmmm,,, I have a Complete Stainless Works exhaust system on my 02 ZO6. I first installed the headers un coated. Then I coated them a few years later. . Massive difference in under hood temps, Much better looks and ability to keep them clean.
Theory says it improves header efficiency. I accept that theory. I have a 3" complete system. from collectors to muffles IF, I were to ceramic coat anything else, it would just be the Mid Pipes/X Pipe. IMHO, the system efficiency gains would stop there.
Other than Looks, I don't see what coating the mufflers would do for performance.
Years ago I had mufflers coated for a client. It was a style thing and had nothing to do with performance. It worked fine, never got any complaints.
It was a coating to make them look like titanium
I've been around a lot of Ti in my day, and there isn't much difference between the appearance of Ti and stainless -- what kind of coloring did they do?

it was a ceramic coating, this was ~2004 so it’s been a bit. They had that sort of yellowish glow vs stainless.
The coating company is long since gone

Now I know it’s not the muffler’s but I had JetHot ceramic coat my stainless ARH Headers and love the quality. They will give you a quote with supplied dimensions and pics. Plus you pack up your stuff to ship and they will give you a shipping label which gets you a much cheaper rate on shipping than doing it yourself.
I did my headers only and may end up getting the rest of my system done as I haven’t installed it yet.
gee, thanks
Now I have no choice but to contemplate not only having my headers coated before installing, but switching from what I already have to what appear to be ARH.
Seriously though, thanks for sharing. Your results may be the best looking set of headers I’ve seen. I’ve had Jet-Hot coat headers on a full faired motorcycle, and the temperature reduction was astonishing.
I've got a local business that does commercial ceramic coating and the owner is a car guy and builds/sells 300hp snowmobiles. He's got a beautiful '68 Camaro! He had told me that for appearance you can do it anytime but with only coating the outside there's limited gain in heat retention. To maximize that you want to do both the outside and as much of the inside as possible. The coating won't bond well enough once the headers have been exposed to all of the contaminants from the exhaust gases.
