My 2001 C5 woke up to a dead battery. Recharged successfully. Traced voltage leak to a 4,60 amp draw to the #25, 10amp fuse, Body Control Module-Ignition #1, Instrument Panel Control., on the inside passenger floorboard fuse block. Pulled the fuse and amp draw reduced to .15 amps. The question is: Is it the Body Control Module unit itself or several components down circuit from the Body Control Module adding up to the 4.6 amp draw. Odds say it is the BCM since it failed overnight and not gradually. Is there a procedure to check the BCM or eliminate it as the fault. I have pulled the ignition switch on the car three times and cleaned/overhauled/cussed it, but always was successful in restoring the car to health. I've looked for a commercial location to bench test the BCM, but so far, no luck. Now considering just buying a BCM and having an extra. Any help from someone who understands the movement of electrons would be greatly appreciated. Happy New Year!
