Does reverse work normally?
Any recent service to the trans? Shift kit maybe?
Sounds like the forward clutch is gone but there's also a check ball that can be omitted that will cause loss of forward and reverse.

Did this problem happen suddenly? Sounds like the clutch packs are slipping, have you noticed any major transmission oil leaks? So unfortunately it seems you are looking at a major expense to have the transmission rebuilt or replaced.

It sort of goes without asking, but have you checked the fluid level? Any history of ATF leaks? It might make sense to check the fluid in the differential also b/c if the rear seal is leaking profusely the fluid could have ended up in the diff. Checking the coolant for ATF contamination is another thing to look for.
