Re: hardened input shaft, inst. hint ? (Phil97SVT)
Hi Michael, yes long time no "see"
I am about to put in my FLP levelIV and Vigilante 5 disc, and a new 427 cui LPE engine.
I hope my 427 like my spinning exhaust :-)
Phil, i ment the output shaft in the rear end, the one that often break when applied to too much TQ
How to install a hardened output shaft:
Remove Rear carrier
remove 12 bolts to remove cover
remove 2 allen bolts holding stud plate
remove center diff assembly
Unbolt 8 surrounding bolts on diff
seperate diff housing
remove C-clip
remove gear
remove clutches
install new shaft....its that easy in fact its VERY easy.

Re: hardened input shaft, inst. hint ? (Austrian Vette)
Always a mod I wanted to do.Now that I am going to buy wheels slicks and skinnies it seems it would be a good compliment to the twin turbo C5R LPE car.I have them in the shop its just that I'm real impressed with the stock drivetrain and I put down GOBS of TQE at the wheels and I'm not scared to use my boost controller and the 104 race gas.
If I replace it I will never know what it takes to bust it which is actually very valuble to the whole community.Of course if I just bolt on the slicks it will be flatbedded home.Good Luck on the install there not that tough.Dave S.
