OK, was driving my Vette home in the snow yesterday. Got caught out by surprise...the weatherman lied! :mad Anyway, it was a little slippery, of course, and the trac control was on and off. Some places I had to start off in 2d gear...you know the story.
So when I'm stopped at lights, I notice the engine's missing, running rough. Even at relatively low rpm in gear, say up to about 2K. So my question is, was the car just asking me "WTF is this crap, you take me out in the snow?" or is this a common problem?
A couple of questions for you. What air intake do you have. If it's a bottom breather or open shroud intake, my next question is, did the air dam happen to scrape up any snow.
If not, do you have a silicone cooupler between the air bridge and the throttle body. If so, I'd check to see if it collapsed underneath. Cold does make things contract, especially rubber.
These are the only things I can think of right of the top of my head.
Bone stock, from front to back. Has about 25K on it now. Air filter dirty? About when should they be changed, under typical driving conditions? (This ain't Texas; we don't have dust storms here).
Do you have the throttle body coolant bypass? That could be the culprit. The reason GM runs coolant thru the throttle body is to prevent icing problems in cold weather.
If you don't have the bypass, I don't think I can help you.
Good luck - I hope it's an easy fix!
*EDIT* - didn't see your second post before I replied. Hopefully you get to the bottom of this quickly.
OK bierbelly, i heard that comment about Texas. I will have you to know we love our dirt, even when it's from out of state. :)
Hey, I wasn't crackin on Texas. When I crack on Texas, it's much worse than that! :D
No, I was just wondering what the average lifespan of the stock air filter was (and noticed that corvettess was from Tx). Stupid of me really, who else on this site has actually kept their air filter stock until it needed to be replaced...
