Default 1 Headlight won't open

I recently purchased a 2000 coupe, the previous owner had the rh headlamp motor replaced before I bought the car. it will not open unless I open the hood and turn the **** a 1/4 of a turn manually, it then opens just fine. Since there is not a motor stop switch what can I do to repair this problem? The dealership that replaced the motor for the previous owner said there is not much they can do about it. TIA

The plastic gear is the usual culprit; it is common to upgrade to bronze.

I sometimes have a similar problem with the passenger side headlight that I had the motor replaced with a GM new one. My fix is the same as yours, I back off (counter clock) the manual **** about 1/2 inch. I also cleaned the connection between the motor and control module and make sure the connection is tight.. I do not drive at night but do want the headlight to function properly should I need it. Each time I drive, at the end I open the headlight. Sometimes it takes a couple of on/off's to get the 'lazy' headlight to work. Maybe the issue is in the control module. Or maybe the **** tightens itself. Just another anomaly driving the C5.

The right side headlight was doing something similar when I bought my 2000 coupe. Installed the bronze/brass gears. Kit also had a metal plate that attached to the side of the actuator to help prevent flex in the plastic housing. 15+ years later, the headlights haven't missed a beat. Think they will out-live me.

Make sure all the plastic stops are there.

^^^^^^This absolutely^^^^^^. The stops put an increased load on the motor, which tells it (electronically) it has reached the desired location, and it's time to stop.....
