What temp should a c5 run in town when it’s 80° outside. Seems to run at 190/220 what I observe! Is that something I need to be concerned with? I’d like to take a ride to Maine but a little hesitant! 8 hour ride! Or more depending on NY CT and Mass traffic !!
190/220 is a fine temperature Mike. Here in Texas 100 degree day heavy traffic I hit 230 from time to time. You're fine.
If you're exceptionally concerned you can make sure you have the later 18lb coolant tank cap instead of the earlier 15lb cap. That will raise your boiling point a few more degrees.
Running the AC will force both fans on, that should also help keep temps a little lower for a little longer. But the fans come on in the manner they were programmed before you get to 230 anyway.

Not sure what’s normal and if any tweaking should be done! I just got back from a 45 minute drive through towns and highways. Temp went as high as 227 but average temp seemed like about 210/217. Tried the air to see if that would make it go down but didn’t see a big difference, and the air shut down after a very short time maybe because I had the roof down ? It’s 92 here in Pennsylvania and lots of stop n go also. People talk about getting the fans tuned so they come on earlier is that a normal fix or not even necessary? Thanks for the feedback !
Old Duffer trying to stay cool
Air will not turn off just because your top is down, something else going on there.
Sounds like your temps are fine to me.
Might be worth looking at the front side of the radiator and cleaning out any debris that might be partially blocking it. These cars are very low on the road and get air from the bottom so it's not unusual to have some leaves built up there. Run the front tires up on a couple 2x6 so you have a little room to work.

that’s reassuring you think those temps are the normal range for this style of car! New to me so I’m trying to learn as I go. I’ll take a look underneath and see if there are any obstructions in front of the radiator if I can get under there enough. Thanks Dads2k

there was some debris in the top edge on both sides but not sure if it would affect too much but I did blow it out of there so I’ll play with it more tomorrow and see how things go. Just love cruising around maybe I’ll try it with the top up lol … thanks again!

It’s amazing how much the junk in the condenser and radiator affect cooling. Well, duh, right? It’s just that these cars are very susceptible to debris. Every time we drive over grass cuttings blown into the street, we’re taking some home…. Even on a 90°+ day in Florida my engine coolant rarely goes above 205°. If you’re going from the gauge, it might read higher. Use you “Gauges” button on your DIC screen to coolant temp and it will be more accurate and precise.
To clean the condenser properly it is a chore removing the air cleaner and radiator cowl from the front. But that’s the best way for a thorough cleaning.
Next best is removing the cover above the radiator and using air and water wands.
