one used Pennzoil synchromesh in their m6 c5? Thinking of using that fluid for my next transmission fluid change.
This has been beat to death.
All transmission fluids are a hit or miss. This one works for him but wont work for someone else and on and on and on and on. Get a hand full of bones toss them and see what they say to you. Thats what i did and it worked out great.
The one I've seen most consistently is what I use- AMSOIL Torque-Drive® 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid. Supposedly its one of the few synthetic safe for the paper blocker rings.
Amsoil Torque Drive is what I've used for the last 100K plus miles.
Still shifts like "budda".
Safe for early paper blocking rings. (whatever they are)
I've never had a "miss" with the factory fill, or following manufacturer recommendations for a street car......
Road racing is a different animal.
Maybe miss understood. Its just about debate which and everybody has their favorite and those don't work for everyone. Example, i tried factory and my notchy got worst so i went to amsoil and it was night and day. Just saying and not dissing any brand. What every works for you.
I dont know what was used in mine before me.

I have used synchromesh in a lot of transmissions with great success. It really quieted down the 5th gear whine in my Ranger, and more or less solved the 2nd gear grind in my MR2
I currently run the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in my C5, no issues to report with it
Yeah, but he lost his street cred admitting ownership of an MR2
Its kinda funny- on the MR2 forum, they think the only company capable of producing a quality car was 90s era Toyota. On the Corvette forum- "if it ain't American, it ain't ****"
Overall, I am happy with my POS's, and their respective choices in manual transmission cooling and lubricating
