During a cold start, I have noticed lately that my ‘99 FRC will hesitate to start at first. I turn the key and let the fuel pump prime, then when I go to start it, it turns over and tries to start a few times (sometimes backfiring) before finally coming alive. It only ever does this during a cold start. If I get it up to operating temperature and shut it off, it will fire right back up with zero of these symptoms.
Any suggestions of what to look for and potentially replace? Ive only owned the car for a little over a month so minus an oil change, I have not went through the car.
On my DD '04 Murano, I occasional had a similar problem. Doing an 'old school' carbourator days work-around, I pump the gas pedal once before starting. Have had no further problems starting the car..

On a car with an electronic throttle body you’re not injecting any fuel before starting the car so I don’t see how that would work…all you’re doing is opening and closing the throttle plate.

OK, I am NOT a tech guy, just saying it worked on my 04 Murano. If i do not do it, then I have hard starting. Sometimes things happen without explication. Just saying.

I had this issue on a work truck, first start of day took several tries, once it started the truck would restart fine all day.
Turned out to be some failed check valve letting fuel pressure bleed off overnight, that’s what the mechanic shop said, of course they replaced the complete fuel pump, sender assembly and it was good to go.
Or it could be what others have mentioned as well, have a fuel pressure tester kit?
