Re: Has anyone tried straight pipe (Capt. Cool Beans)
I too have the SLP loudmouth. No baffles or anything...they are just straight pipes. Car is pretty loud. Not too loud for me but pretty freakin loud. I added a corsa x-pipe and that really helped mellow things out abit. I hope I don't have any problems with the man. I can keep it pretty quiet...suprisingly quiet if I need to. I would imagine that if there is ever a cop around when I go WOT that I would get stopped. WOT is really loud. My neighbors can hear me in the next county.:D I love it. My system is also customized with 4" ricer tips. Do you all think these tips are ricey? I kinda think it is right back in thier face. They could never get away with 4 of them.
Re: Has anyone tried straight pipe (Capt. Cool Beans)
Thanks to all for the info! I will be getting the Quick Time Electric Cutouts. by the way I have had the car three weeks and just run 13.46, not bad for stock(??) Thanks
Thats what I run bone stock, 13.39 in 70 degree weather. With run craps.
They have cut outs where the offroad pipes/high flow cats parts go.
I will forward you the email with pictures.
has anyone install the quick time electric cut out on a stock exhaust? If I would buy it, I would have to install it right after headers. do you think it would be possible?
The cutouts will fit back by the rear flange on the intermediate pipe. I saw a picture of one installed. You forward the FLP photos and I will look for the pictures of the cutout install

I ran straight pipes for a year and a half and then replaced them with some Super Trapps. The straight pipes are very loud and lots of people commented on them. The biggest problem is the resonance at highway speeds. On the highway in cruise at 1600 rpm as the car comes onto the throttle it will resonate like hell in the cabin. Even the 200 watt radio doesn't help much and it is not easy to carry on a conversation. From 1600 to 2300 rpm the resonance is the worst. If you are on full throttle the car has a vicious snap to it. When I was on the track everybody would know when I screwed up a down shift and had to lift on the throttle a little. It would give one hell of a backfire just like a real race car.

Re: Has anyone tried straight pipe (Capt. Cool Beans)
I am basically running straight pipes. Not too loud, but definitely too much resonance. Hard to describe... But hurts the ears at certain revs 2200-2500. Everything else is sweet music. I bought GHL last week, should be here next day or two.
Re: Has anyone tried straight pipe (Capt. Cool Beans)
thanks Troy! I got your email with the pics. That will help a lot. Now I must figure out if I can use the off road header cut outs with my stock exhaust manifold.... hmmm
TPIS long tube > (pre-cats removed) > stoch cats > stock mid pipe > straight pipes I made for $10.00 utilizing half of the Borla cat back system. Terminated with about 15 inches of pipe exiting at the far corners left and right-(nothing in the middle where pipes normally exit), big flush slash cuts to keep them flush with the bottom of the car and not hinder trailer loading. so the open part of the end of the pipe is a big oval. Yes lots of resonance but 4000-redline is insane sweet music. Coming off throttle loud pops, snarls and gurggles. Highway cruise 5th gear 2200rpm , better take tranquilizers first if you have a long trip-it'll drive you crazy. It is a very refined race car sound under heavy throttle, under light throttle just alittle throaty, same at idle. A real sleeper, stealthy exhaust in my opinion. Since I did it I thouht i'd be swappin the $800 Borla in and out- not once , I cant part with WOT Shreak. Oh I used the hangers for stock muff to hold some 1 inch light steel hangers I tack welded to the 5 dollar pipes. One side did move and toast the quarter panel a little before I caught it. I lined the inside of the quarter panels with heat reflective tape. Sorry I dont have a digital camera. :steering:
