Power Antenna Not Lowering
2000 Convertible with the stock antenna, stereo. I noticed that recently, the antenna doesn't lower completely. It stays up about 2". I've kept it cleaned and lubed over the years with small amounts of silicone spray, and until now has worked perfectly.
Just wanted to know if this was a common problem with a common solution before I dig into it.

An alternative to fixing the stock antenna
I had to search a little to find one that fit the Vette but I installed a stubby antenna and was very pleased .
I had to enter the operating room through the right tail light. Not a bad process at all.

It is common for the antenna to get a little bent and not work properly. A new antenna mast may solve the issue.

I had this problem on my 04. Mast not bent, just not retracting all the way. You can pull these apart, clean and re grease the innards, and they work again, You need to drill out the spots that hold the cover on. Small self-tapper screws close it right back up.
