Guy’s , im looking for an explanation as to why a corvette convertible is $4 to 5000 more that a coupe. You’re getting less car but paying more for it . Thanks

Then just buy more car for less. Why would you want less car anyway? win-win

Econ 101. feeder82 has it SPOT on.
Supply and demand. Who would ever want a coupe when a roadster was available?
Convertibles have always been higher cost vehicles with greater complexity. Decades ago they were also something of a status symbol. For those like me who grew up with them, not having a true convertible in their life is unthinkable. I'm happy to pay the premium because it does my soul good to drop the top and experience a true American V8 M6 roadster on a beautiful, winding road.
Oh, and "less car" is a matter for debate. Just sayin'.

thank you , you answer is the only one here that makes a lot of sense.
While supply and demand I would think is the answer, I question that simply because they would produce more convertibles than coups because there would be more of a demand for those.. However that’s not the case in any year. My 91/has a cross brace to help with support the frame and a storage lift up for the top . No hardtop , I would hardly think that’s 4 to 5000 difference. That said and I’m not knocking convertibles here ,the coup is more of a performance car while the convertibles are more a luxury car.

Who says it's less car??? Also, throughout its history, Corvette convertibles have always carried a slightly higher price than T-Tops/Hardtops. This is also usually true of other models and brands. Check out the price on a convertible Mopar Hemi car, or a 1957 Chevy convertible, as they compare to standard models. It is just the way it is......
If you truly believe that, you've never been in a C5 vert in cold weather. They are just as warm as a coupe, if the top is up! The C5 (or 6, 7, or 8) isn't a 1950s or 1960s convertible....
