Default Transmission cooler lines

I have a 01 base auto c5 I recently replaced the radiator and when I was putting everything back together i noticed my cooler lines were rubber and it didn’t click in my head until they got loosened and I left a snail trail of tranny oil in a parking lot but after doing some research they’re supposed to be snap in place fittings but I have about an inch and a half of hose from the actual line into the rad looks like the previous owner clipped off the snap fitting and I was curious of if I should replace the whole line or find a way that doesn’t use rubber hose if anyone has suggestions please let me know thanks

It's supposed to be a metal line with a flare on the end that has a flat on the back of it, and that snaps into the Radiator fitting with a Clip. Someone before you was a dumbshit and didn't understand how they work so they hacked it.

I suggest getting the metal lines back on the car that it factory came with so they clip in like they should.

I bet they hacked in a trans cooler and then at some point, hack it back without it.

I would probably remove the hose, see if the steel line is flared. If it is then buy a new and longer piece of hose. If not flare, then cut the pipe a inch or two so that the bend is not as great, then flare it and install a new longer piece of hose. If the leak is coming at the rad connection then it could be a bigger pain.

mine is a 97 base so the lines are a bit different but I installed a compression fitting on a straight part of the metal line and a fitting in the radiator that matches the fitting on the metal line. I also left a trail of fluid from a bad rubber line. works good and does not leak.
