Udders were clogged and wiper motor would not shut off but were otherwise still working. Had to pull the fuse to turn them off. When I pulled the motor and disconnected the plug, some water came out. I should have been more patient and dried out the plug so see if the board in the motor was ruined or the water was simply causing a connection problem. Nevertheless, I bought a new motor. I noticed that the pivot arm looked different than the one on the old motor. I thought I should use the new pivot arm and I threw away the old motor and pivot arm. Rookie mistake - never discard old parts before you are sure you have everything working properly. I was able to install the motor without a problem but am now having trouble. The pivot arm looks smaller than the OEM part. The wipers will not fully rotate and do not park like they should. In reading the posts, it seems that the old pivot arm is frequently used when a motor is replaced but I don't see a solution for the problem I am having. The only new motors that I can find all seem to have the same type of silver bent metal pivot arm that looks a little shorter and does not have the circular style mechanism. If I can fix it somehow, fine, but it seems like I just need to buy a used motor one with the old style pivot arm. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

A picture with a ruler next to the arm would help if someone has one they could check.
