I am a new C5 owner and new to the forum. I got a pretty clean well careed for C5 with 73K miles on it.
Two issues I have found so far, oil pressure sensor needs replacement. Already have that part and the passenger rear speaker has not power to the connector. I veirfied the speaker works.
Does anyone have experience with this setup. Where can I look next?
Can't help with the audio but I had an oil pressure sending unit fail on a previous 2002 Corvette. Documented procedure calls for removing the intake manifold for access. A few talented owners were able to get it out without doing that. I couldn't do it. There are other well documented cases on utube where owners cut a hole in the firewall for easy access. This requires only removing the wiper blades and a plastic cover above the firewall. I and many others took this route to avoid disconnecting old plastic tubes and buying gaskets. No regrets. Explore this option if you want to easily do it yourself. I patched the hole with aluminum tape and reinstalled the plastic cover above it. No one can tell without taking it apart. No regrets. If my current C5 has a sending unit failure I'd do it again tomorrow. My first C5 sending unit failed at about 59K miles and 20 years. My current car has 54k and is ok so far. Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I did watch a bunch of youtubes doing it both ways you suggested. I do not think I can get my hand back there to remove it either. I'm not sure what route I am going to take yet. I surely do not want to remove the intake on my own.
Why fear the intake removal??? It is one of the easiest intakes to remove that I've ever seen. What is there, 10 hex head cap screws? A quick disconnect fuel line, disconnect the airbridge from the TB, unplug the injectors, etc. In most cases you dont need to replace the 8 intake port O-rings. Easy peasy. If you don't think it's that easy, get a sending unit relocate kit from a number of manufacturers, or make your own. You'll never need to remove the intake again. BTW.....Just get an auto parts oil sender. DO NOT get another junk OEM sender. I bought mine at O'Reilly....Maybe 10 years ago? It wasn't even their lifetime guaranteed one. IIRC, it had a 1 year guarantee. Made of bronze/plastic or brass/plastic. Don't know for sure what it's made of, but they last.......

Call Crutchfield for your audio needs. Great products and great customer service.
1-800-536-9663. Can't help you much on the rear speakers, as I have a Vert, and they're blocked and virtually inaudible whenever top is down, which is 95% of the time.....

I would suggest not bothering with Chevy Cust Svc. They will send you to your dealer which is about the dumbest possible course of action for a stereo issue on a 25 year old car.
