Default Oil Pressure

Hello,

I seem to remember my question being answered but can't find it. While giving my C5 a winter start up i see that oil pressure is pegged at 80lbs. Even after coming up to temp. Any Ideas?

Oil pressure sensor has failed.

Yup, likely a bad sensor.
You could use a manual gauge to test it, or just replace the sensor.

If the pressure indication stays pegged high even at hot idle, I agree likely a failed sensor. But I would still check the pressure with a mechanical gauge. There are adapters that can be made or purchased that allow pressure testing at the oil filter.
