Default Radio Power Problem

I removed my old radio because I found it was causing a .98 amp draw on the battery. This, and other problems, were caused by the BCM shutting the car down completely after improperly installing LED fog lights (discussed in a previous thread). BCM was repaired and I got the car back with everthing working but I had removed the radio before that repair so could not test it at the time.

Before installing the new radio I found 12v power at the constant power (orange) wire at the radio connector but no power to the switched (pink) wire at the connector with ignition in the accessory position. Fuse 5 (Radio) in the kick panel is good and there is power to one side of the fuse holder with the key on. There is no continuity between the other side of the fuse holder and the pink wire at the connector.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Update. Fuse 5 only feeds the constant power to the orange wire in the radio connector. That is why I was not getting any connectivity from the fuse holder to the pink wire. Does anyone know what fuse or circuit feeds the pink (switched power) wire to the radio when the ignition is on?

Thank you Old School. I have that schematic and as I look at it again (and, again) I am beginning to think I am testing for the wrong thing. After rexaming the diagram, it now appears to me that the only power to the radio is through the orange wire which is fed through fuse 5 - hot all the time. The pink wire I thought should be hot may only be hot after the radio is turned on and power is passed to and through the pink wire to the other radio components, ie., speakers, amps, etc.

I will not know until I install the radio and see if it turns on.

Can anyone confirm or debunk my thinking!!!

Looks like pink goes to the power antenna, powered thru the radio when the radio is turned on

Default Radio Power problem

Thanks again Old School. What is still escaping me - if the only power wire is the constant (orange) wire and the radio will not turn on until ignition is in accessory or the car is started - what sends the signal to the radio that allows it to turn on? This is a schematic of the radio connector and the only thing I can think of is the other orange wire (pin 16) somehow gets the "switch on" signal to the radio. Maybe even pin 15?? All the others seem to be antena or music feeds. So maybe I'll just connect the radio and see what happens.

I have to apologize for not giving credit to the member of this forum that posted the pin wiring diagram. Unfortunately,I cannot find it again to name the individual, but thank you for the information.
