I am having an issue where as soon as I depress the brake pedal, I am blowing fuse #8. I have replaced the switch at the pedal with no luck. No issues when I push the hazards switch, or if I select turn signals.
I have the harness disconnected in the right hand wheel well where it feeds the rear lights.
If I disconnect the connector (light grey in color with blue id, shown in picture) in the right hand engine bay (below where the battery would sit), the short goes away.
I did just replace the clutch so torque tube and rear end was out.
Which connector in the schematics is the one I have disconnected? Is this part of the harness that runs aft along the torque tube and maybe pinched?
What year is your car? No info in your sig. All C5s are not the same! Is that the factory harness or was it replaced? Take closer pictures of the wire colors and the face of the connector.
From what I can tell from the pic, that connector looks like C142, which has nothing to do with the rear light feed. The inline connector that feeds the lights is C140, and is rectangular. There may be a wire in the C142 harness that is shorted to the light feed wire in the C140 harness.
Get a flashlight and trace the harnesses. Something probably got damaged or pinched along the way.
Which wire in C140 would be to the brake lights. Looking at the C140 description you provided I don’t see it. I am thinking about just running a new wire instead of changing the entire harness.

Really, you have not done any homework yet. Sounds like you have two harnesses that are shorted to each other somewhere .....so which wire do you replace exactly? The yellow wire runs to the center stop lamp, but it could still be something shorted to the rear left/right stop lamp circuit. You have to isolate further.

With your brake lights being partially inoperable, we strongly encourage you to avoid driving your Corvette until it is properly diagnosed and repaired. As your safety is imperative to us, we would like to help connect you with a dealer to have this task completed. To get started, please email us at socialmedia@gm.com with your forum username in the subject line. From there, we can offer our most prime assistance.
Do not go to dealer they have no clue to work on a older c5. They just change parts guessing you can do that at home, If you get to wits end take it to a experienced electrical auto shop. They probably could have this diagnosed with in 30 minuts with a coffee break.
