So I am doing a new head unit swap to an period correct CDX-RA700 with an amp and found a set of cables from a previous owner. One plugged into the RRFOGLP with two 10A fuses and another plugged into the PCM with two 10A fuses also. Is this for something aftermarket? Anyone know why it was done like this? I would really love some information on what its for.
From what I can see, the provisions for the rear fog lamp control (export) are being used to trigger a relay that is being used to provide 12v to something piggybacked off the PCM fuse. The PCM fuse is a switched ignition source, and the rear fog lamp fuse gets 12v via relay 37 when the foglamp switch is pressed. If the original owner did not order the car with fog lamps, they may have added them this way. See where the red wire to the black fuse holder is connected.
Thank you for the responses, Im at work right now so im unable to look at my glove box but to answer some questions the red wire with the black fuse holder has no fuse in it and is connected to positive of the fuse box. The black wire connected with it runs to ground behind the battery underneath the cowl it just seemed unusual to me that the wires dont really go anywhere but in a loop. I do have fog lights I dont think they are led ill check today. Also with the amp I was planning on running 4g wire to the battery terminal with a fuse set up and then running that wire all the way to the back. I was looking for a good tap in point for 12v for the ignition turn on. I heard there's one in the footwell but if anyone has suggestions I am all ears im pretty new to doing audio in a vehicle.
Yes, amp switched power can be sourced from the switched accessory wire in the foot well. They have them taped from the factory, one constant power and one switched power. I wired both to relays and leave plenty of wire on the output of the relay to add anything additional in the future. You will have to run a 10 or 12 gauge fused wire from the battery source to power the relays. Turns out I now have my WBO2 controller, fuel psi gauge, radio, and amp so far on the accessory relay.
Awesome I appreciate it ive been searching to find a solid 12v constant for the radio too and that helps put alot the adapter i bought doesnt have the correct pin out for 12v constant so im having to source it from somewhere else. That seems like a perfect spot for that and my 12v switched for the amp
