Shifters (again)
I am relatively new to the Corvette world, I recently purchased nice clean low mile (59K) 2001 6 speed convertible.
I am not thrilled with the shifter, seems sloppy to me, with a longer than necessary throw.
I have searched the archives, but still have some questions.
Quite a few people suggest a c6 shifter, is that any C6 shifter? (I am leaning toward that due to $)
OR, only a C6 Z06 shifter as some have eluded to.
What year shifter do I look for? C6 (2005 to 2013) only? OR, can I step up to C7 (2014 to 2019) as the pictures I have seen look identical other than a 7 speed.
Thanks, JIM

c6 and c7 shifter levers are (pretty much) the samey-same. they both will bolt right in so find a good one and go crazy!
here is a cheap one that would be a good start. you will need a new compatible ****, btw. be sure to get the c6 pattern ****, not the c7
be aware that the upper lever is that you are most likely seeing for sale. the shifter also requires the lower shifter box which is what the upper lever inserts into. i would recommend a TMOD billet aluminum lower box replacement to go along with a c7 upper lever. this is what i am using and i think it is just about perfect.
There are some very expensive short throw full shifter replacements available from Tick, Callaway, MGW etc. these are all also great choices but pretty expensive. you get what you pay for in a sense but many folks like the c6/c7 levers which are great choices as well.
If you can have the car down for a little - TMOD does offer a shifter modification program for a little cheaper than a full aftermarket shifter
