Default Dash light

Working on my HVAC, I had to remove my dash. I've been working on this for over 2 months and finally got things settled.... I think.. putting the dash back together, I noticed what I thought was a sensor but now I'm pretty sure it's a for one of the gauges on my instrument cluster. But I cannot find the opening for the life of me for this. Any ideas where this would go?
Thanks
Todd

Nope. That is the ambient light sensor. It fits into the defroster grille.

You're right, there is a light sensor at the top of the DIC buttons. So where does the sensor that he is holding plug into the DIC button assembly grinder11?

So are you able to conclude based on the pictures that the sensor for the DIC buttons is self contained, and DIC buttons assembly has no physical geometry to accept the sensor the OP is holding ?

I would think that would be correct. What I didn't think is that this would develop into a confessionary situation, when all I was doing was making a suggestion. Do I need an attorney here? Sorry, more question marks....

YIKES GUYS !!!! EASY .... I'm just asking questions too!!! I appreciate the help. Honestly the "sensor/light" I'm holding is a bit of a mystery, I honestly don't remember un-fastening this when I removed the dash. So i'm not sure if it was laying under the dash or what.
Honestly, I took the picture and was using AI, to see if it recognized it. It [AI] thought it was a light that illuminated something in the dash. However, I WILL admit, it does look just like the sensor for the defrost.
No need to draw lines, it's all good and I appreciate the help

I was just offering you an opportunity to validate your suggestion. Sorry you feel this was a personal attack, that was not the intention.

You ever have one of those days?? Months?? I've been hesitant to put the dash back on the C5 for fear of pieces that I just couldn't seem to find a home for. I took a closer look at the "grille" in the dash and then stumbled upon someone replacing a Sunload / Solar Sensor (Passenger side). As he was taking the grille off, he noticed a SECOND sensor.......What ??? I don't remember that sensor when I was taking apart my dash. Low and behold, there is a NOT SO OBVIOUS opening that looks almost EXACTLY like the Sunload / Solar Sensor (Passenger side) - but is a more simple connector on the driver side. I now understand this to be the Twilight Sentinel / Ambient Light Sensor.
Although I labeled all the screws etc. I never thought this process (waiting for parts, finding out I had the wrong part for my car etc.) would take 2 months. I should have taken pictures. Truth be told, I don't think the sensor was connected to the grille and that is why I don't remember it.
I hope this helps someone!!
