I just got finished bending the lines and they look pretty good but I have a question before I install them. The hurst instructions say to use teflon tape on threads on the fittings. Are you really supposed to use teflon tape on the fittings? I am going to make a easy DIY instruction guide for those looking to install one. I am trying to decide what to use for a switch....any though on the NX switch panel bottle opener unit?
Phillip :D
I've plumbed alot of brake systems, and I've never used teflon tape. If you do your flares correctly (double flair or AN) they wont leak. Remember on AN fittings, when connecting they are designed to be finger tight plus 1/4 turn. Any more than that and you can damage the seal and they will leak. IMHO Teflon tape in a brake system is a poor bandaide in a critical system. No ASE trained mechanic would ever use Teflon Tape on a Brake system. Unfortunately, I have seen in several instruction sheets for various brake system installations that suggest the use of Teflon tape. I just cringe. :nono:
I'm courious, where did you install the line lock? Between the Master cylinder and ABS? Between the ABS and the Wheel Cylinder?
I have a Cartek linelock waiting for me to install it. I look forward to your D.I.Y. post. My linelock comes with the lines and fittings. However, I have never messed with the braking system on my Vette - for that reason, I could use some additional info. before the intall.
As for the tape, what about liquid teflon (made by ARP)?
For people with the NX switch panel, the bottle on/off switch on the far right (when facing the panel) sounds like it could work - please let us know what you decided and what, if any, problems you run into.
By the way, I see you are due to get you roll bar soon - they just delivered mine this week - now I just have to deal with getting it in the car.
