As has been mentioned, several of us that have removed the Delco OEM plugs have found plugs with missing platinum inserts "pucks" on the elecrode. This causes the plug to have a signifigantly larger gap than spec and the car will idle a bit rough
I just finish dealing with the same problem... The dealership flushed the fuel injection but didn't really want to change the plugs. I added new plugs and wires which help to correct most of the rough idle.
For what it's worth, the Corvette expert at a dealership in LA told me to avoid Chevron, Mobil and 76 gas because the chemical used to bond the detergent to the gas causes problems with Bosch fuel injectors. He got this info at the Corvette school in Las Vegas sonsored by GM.
He said if problems such rough idle or hesitation occur after using one of these fuels for awhile, immediately switch to another major brand (Arco, Shell etc) and the problem will disappear in a tank or two unless the injectors become permanently damaged.
Has anyone heard of this? The guy has been to the Corvette tech school and the Corvette driving school and seems to know his stuff. He knows the C5 inside and out.
