I just installed some 8000 HID's on my C5. These are 9006 bulbs with HID ballast's. The problem is that when I turn my lights on they go on for 2 seconds and then off. I am not blowing any fuse's and I went from the 10amp fuse all the way up to a 30 and still the same thing. Can anyone offer any advice. :nopity Feel free to email me at work.. Rgds..
GM vehicles are affected by reverse polarity on their wiring, so unplug the 9006 low beam factory socket from the HID ballast, rotate it 180 degrees and plug it back in. It should start working.
If that doesn't work, make sure your car is running when you fire up the HIDs. HIDs require higher voltage to get the ballasts to ignite.
Also, don't go as high as 30 amps on the headlamps fuses. 15 works just fine.
8000k is highly illegal in the U.S. You can get away with 4200k or even 5000k, but 8000??? They are going to be too much on the deep purple side and law enforcement will probably come down on you for that.
