I spent a long time considering the headers and under-drive pully to add to my list, but:
- shorty headers are a waste of money and i want to go with longs. Being in California, I'm worries about failing smog when the first one is due in October. If someone can give me a reason, and a good recommendation (I hear the LG headers are good), i could be convinced.
- I have an after market stereo that requires a fair few amps (i think it's about 60) when it's cranked. I was concerned that an underdrive pully in addition to this set-up may stress the battery. Besides, $350 seemed like a lot of money for 7HP. Cartek also told me that because of the rolling rocker chain, if I went with the underdrive pully, I'd have to grind something and that was a little further than i wanted to go.

I think on a heads/cam car, headers will make a huge difference. I will venture to guess 25hp/20tq. The FLP and LG headers are great systems because they come with cats and an off-road pipe. You can run catless daily and just pop on the cats when emissions time comes. I dont think headers will make you fail emissions that you would otherwise pass.

I understand your thinking on those issues... it sounds like your car will be very cool when this round of mods are installed. :)

There are a number of people in CA running Cartek stage II. This was one oof my main selection criteria. It's mainly down to which cam you choose. The 'H' is not very aggressize.
The issue for the headers is that in CA, many shops will fail you just on a visual inspection because you change your headers. Some people seem to get away with it. I'm going to hold out a bit. I'm going to do my own LS1 edit, so if I find a way around this in the future, I'll upgrade and will hopefully get a good HP gain with just a small mod. I'm going up to 28ib injectors now, so I will be OK if i do the headers later.
