I wouldn't go too wild with them or anything; I'll most likely leave the engine alone besides maybe getting an air/fuel performance chip or hypertech programmer (one of those type thins/cheap upgrades). What I am looking for is that muscle car sound...but not too loud I can't hear myself think. (pretty much like flowmasters, but people dont recommend flowmasters on c5's)
Borla Stinger dual tips here. I absolutely love them. It was my second mod, I installed em myself the day after I did my first mod, which was a Blackwing.
The first week they were almost too loud for my taste and they smoked alot. This is normal. After they broke in, they mellowed out a little bit during normal driving conditions. No resonance whatsoever now. Idle rumbles nicely without a hint of motorboat. And at WOT - you cant beat it! I should also mention that IMHO they are the most badarse looking tips around!
Extreme Motorsports hooked me up for the right price and their service was stellar. Go for it dude!
I got my 2 tip Stingers installed yesterday on my vert. It's been 7 months since my coupe was totalled and I'd forgotten how great the Stingers sound. ROARRRRRRRRRR! :D
Not necessarily. I"ve had them on two C5's now and resonance is virtually non-existant. They might on A4's, but not MN6's. Almost everyone i hang around with has PRT's (5 or 6 of us) and not one complaint of resonance.
Having said that, I will say that I like the sound of the newer Borla's. I don't think you can go wrong with either.
when I first saw the borla 2 tips I thought they were huge! (which they are) but now they have kind of grown on me, Im starting to like them. However I do enjoy the 4 tips because even if they look stock, thats what people will be expecting (little do they know) and because they have always looked good on 'vettes. So I guess the next question is : do you go 2tip or 4tip?
The Magnaflows are especially nice without the X-pipe. It has a low note just like the Borla Stingers. However, the volume is just right without the X-pipe. Put the X-pipe on and you are only 10% louder than stock.
Even though I have the Z06, almost the same, I really liked the
If you come to the Santa Clara Corvette meeting next Wednesday you will probably be able to hear a bunch of Stinger systems. Some with stock exhaust manifolds, some with shorty headers, and some (like mine) with long tube headers.
I personally love the sound of mine. Even with the long tubes its got just a nice quite rumble at idle; then at WOT she really roars!!!!

:yesnod: :iagree: If you add the X-pipe, however, you will get rid of the popping! Some people like the motorboat sound. . .others do not.
Also, if you have a chance listen to a car that has had the Magnaflows on for a few months. They get much louder after the "stuff" burns out of the mufflers. :yesnod:
