After carefully looking for the coolest, loudest exhausts, initially I was leaning w/ the XR-1. But after comparing both sounds over the net, I think I might go w/ the Loudmouths.
I have Loudmouths on my car....if you want muscle car rumble...and scare the crap out of everyone on the road...go straight pipes with SLP loudmouths....it's the way GM should have made them sound from the factory!
You'll also probably want to install an X-Pipe to reduce any popping on deceleration....will get some resonance at about 2100 RPM's...but the X-Pipe cuts that down as well...
Can also insulate the cabin floor ( and hatch area if you have a coupe ) to deaden any road and exhaust noise....
Another plus....you'll also drop 15 - 20 pounds off the car.....and you can typically find them for a fraction of the cost of any of the other systems - between $550 for two tip stingers and $750 - 900 for 4 tip stingers or XR-1 borla systems and ridiculous amounts of money for any Corsa system...I got my Loudmouths for $400.....just one man's opinion ....but if it's a loud and mean exhaust note your interested in..and you'll be able to deal with the loudness..you may want to check out the SLP Loudmouths....there isn't anything that sounds better....
It's not just going to be the mufflers that get that 'note' you want. When I started my search years back I told everyone I wanted to hear the motor over the mufflers, and I didn't want that coffee can full of rocks sound. I run the Borla 4 tip 4-1/2" mufflers only setup, TPIS headers, Basini x-pipe and no cats. My solid roller h/c really sounds wicked through them. Ordered from Summit.
