I think this subject was touched on before but I would just like some reassurance, I just had the CARTEK h/c package installed and my car runs great but it seems like the lifters are always making a ticking sound. I heard some other people say this is normal, when I did the h/c change the heads came ready to bolt on with new springs and things. The heads are stage 2 heads and I did not replace the lifters as they only had approx. 20k on them, we did get new pushrods from CARTEK as well. I've heard some guys talk about with these types of heads and a large cam you just have to get used to the noise and it could possible be the springs and not the lifters at all. I'm getting used to the car sounding like a sewing machine but I just want to make sure there is nothing wrong as I have a fair amount of $$$$$ invested in this car now. Thank you advance for any insights. Bob
I can relate. After getting my H/C I noticed the sound right away and mentioned it to the vendor whom did the install and he indicated it was normal.
Kinda sounds similar between a slight metalic tapping sound and the sound one hears from a card in bicycle spokes. Sewing machine sound is a good comparison as well!
The sound never goes away, and seem to flucuate with rpm's...
