I just installed TPIS LT and not sure if thats the diff but it sure seems a great deal hotter under the hood......almost hot enuff to melt my fuel rail covers.....lol Is it from the headers?
Can I do anything?
Things I am considering.....programming fan to come on at 200 instead of 225.....rapping pipes with insulation......heat extractor hood........
Remove the rear hood seal, the one close to your wipers. This was brought up as a way to keep the hood from shaking at high autobahn speeds because it lets the under hood air escape. I did it and it works, and it did seem to lower under hood temps. The rain gutter still works, so unless you aim a hose at the gap your engine stays just as clean.
All sorts of good ideas here, one more for you: Remove the "flap" or seal between the engine cmpartment and the driver's side gill or cove opening. Don't do the passenger side, cause it keeps rain, etc. off the computer. You get to the seal from the wheel well. You'll be amazed how much air moves through the gill without the seal.
the headers are coated already.......hmm I have been toying with an idea of having those side ducts functional......I will have to look at the hood seal by the wipers and see whats entailed...Thanks for the idea.....are you talking about the tray the wipers sit in?

Yes that tray, the seal is just pushed on, no glue or clips, it's too easy. Before I did this after a lap of the nurburgring I'd pop my to cool things off and feel the brake reservoir, it was always hot to the touch; after this there was a huge difference if felt temps. The other vette guys after checking there brake fluid started to pull of the seal too.
