Wouldn't it be better to do those closer to the motor? Before the cats?
Maybe, but no muffler shop with any sense would install it that way, since they would be violating federal law (specifically, the Clean Air Act), and could face some really stiff fines. ("removing or rendering inoperative any emission control device or element of design installed on or in a motor vehicle")
I believe even asking a shop to do so is illegal, "soliciting of tampering" or some such thing.

All other who asked about sound clips: I'll post a clip as soon as I hook up the power switch. As it is, the sound is already deeper and more aggressive, even with both cutouts closed.
